He's had Lil Uzi Vert doing his "Lean Pop" dance after trading his football helmet for a mic. Now, he's bringing his lyrical skills to the rap game. With a family full of musical talent, he's quickly propelling himself to the top of the pack.
We caught up with Morgan "Juice" Ellison to find out what's up next for the rising hip hop star and where he draws his inspiration.
1. What's the inspiration behind your release 'Calling You'?
I went through a rough break up. The song outlines my thoughts and feelings of processing through it and trying to gain closure.
2. Who in the music industry - past and present - are your greatest influences?
My brother and sister. My sister, A'Justice, is a phenomenal singer and has been making music for years. She always gives me the best advice. ProdBySOS is another artist who has influenced me a lot. He's been a mentor and helped me learn certain ins and outs of the industry. Also, my little brother, St. Lamaar., is amazing, he's going to blow up very soon.
3. What advice do you have for new artists trying to break into the industry?
There's a lot of stuff that happens behind the scenes. Don't worry about other people or compare yourself to them. Block out the outside noise. There will always be someone doing better or worse than you, so don't let your successes or failures take you off track.
4. What's the coolest place you've ever performed?
Indiana University Frats. That's where it all started. It started off as me just having fun with a mic and my friends to me being asked to perform. It's always a party there.
5. What's next for Juice Ellison?
You'll just have to wait and watch the story unfold. All I can say is there's big things coming.
